The course focuses on the Proxy Indicator of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2.4.1, designed to monitor progress in achieving sustainable and productive agriculture, as most countries are still building capacity to use the official farm survey-based approach. It also showcases the structure of the proxy, which has been constructed around seven sub-indicators, based on the environmental economic and social pillar.

The course consists of 3 lessons, ranging from approximately 25 to 40 minutes each:

  • Lesson 1 – Overview of the Proxy Methodology for SDG Indicator 2.4.1
  • Lesson 2 – Estimation of the Proxy for SDG Indicator 2.4.1
  • Lesson 3 – Existing data collection and reporting mechanisms for SDG 2.4.1 Proxy Indicator

  • The proxy methodology developed to fill data gaps for SDG Indicator 2.4.1.
  • The seven sub-indicators based on a simplified methodology for monitoring progress on SDG 2.4.1.
  • The different methods to calculate status and trends of the proxy’s seven sub-indicators.
