The Enhancing the Quality of Industrial Policies (EQuIP) toolkit provides policymakers with a comprehensive overview of the economic, social and environmental performance of their countries’ manufacturing sector. EQuIP offers a multidimensional, evidence-based approach to inform the policymaking process and track progress towards achieving an agreed set of industrial development goals. The aim is to enhance countries’ capabilities to manage their own future, improve their strategy-setting and policy formulation, and strengthen their engagement with development partners. EQuIP has been developed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in partnership with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ). Since its inception in 2014, EQuIP has undergone several revisions and expansions. The latest edition, finalized in 2024, represents a significant upgrade in the tools’ scientific validity and scope relative to previous versions. The tool comprises a set of eight tools, namely 1. Structural change and productivity; 2. Manufacturing trade; 3. Diversification and upgrading; 4. Global value chains; 5. Income and employment; 6. Gender equality in manufacturing; 7. Industry and environment and 8. Digitalization.
