Swansea Bible Learning Centre to Continue for Another Three Months!
August 12th, 2016
Since opening its doors in May, the Bible Learning Centre (BLC) has welcomed over 3000 visitors, and delivered scores of one-to-one Bible seminars for those who want to get to know the Bible better. Due to this level of interest, the organisers have decided to run the project for another three months, until the end of October.
The BLC is located close to the main doors of the bus station, in premises formerly occupied by the X Factor audition team. It is part of a global programme of Bible education organised by the Christadelphians, a Christian group which has had congregations in Swansea for over 150 years.
“The centre provides a unique opportunity to get to know the Bible better,” said co-organiser, Sarah Joiner, who is an English teacher at Bishop Gore School.
“It’s the world’s best-selling book and the influence it’s had on culture, literature and in changing ordinary lives is second-to-none,” she said.
The BLC is currently showing a science exhibition, which examines the origins of life in the light of the Bible’s record, and the “Why you can trust the Bible” exhibition.
The free courses are designed either for individuals or small groups. Additionally, the centre offers the “Learn English with the Bible” ACE course for second language English speakers. Bibles, Bible reading planners, helpful leaflets and DVDs are available free-of-charge. The centre sells Bibles, cards, children’s Bible books and gifts. There is also a children’s area where children can read Bible stories, enjoy craft activities and watch Bible story movies.
“Our aim is to make the Bible available, accessible and understandable for everyone,” said Mrs Joiner.
“We want to encourage independent Bible reading and want to give people the tools to understand for themselves. The genuine hope offered in the Bible is so relevant for everyday life in the 21st century.”
